Content Recency

Content recency is the elapsed time since a page was first published or last changed in a meaningful way.

What it means

At review time, recency can be expressed as the review timestamp minus the latest genuine publication or substantive modification timestamp. The value describes age; it does not prove accuracy, quality or relevance.

Why it matters

Recency helps prioritize reviews for time-sensitive material and interpret date-dependent results. It must be combined with subject volatility and evidence because stable pages can remain useful for years.

Example

A tax deadline page updated ten days ago is recent, while a standards glossary last revised three years ago is older but may still be fully accurate.

Common mistakes

Do not calculate recency from a deployment timestamp, footer change or regenerated sitemap. Avoid using age alone as a reason to rewrite, redirect or delete a page.

How AYSA handles this

Signals reviewed

datePublished, dateModified, revision diff, source change date, content volatility

Problem AYSA can identify

AYSA can distinguish genuine substantive revisions from technical timestamp changes and missing date evidence.

Recommendation prepared

The proposal assigns a review priority based on content age, subject volatility and observed factual changes.

Approval preview

The user reviews the timestamp source, detected changes and recommended review interval.

Execution

AYSA can correct supported WordPress date metadata after approved substantive content changes.

Verification

AYSA checks visible dates, structured data and sitemap lastmod against the approved revision.

Limits

AYSA cannot establish a reliable recency value when historical revisions and source dates are unavailable.

Does a recent update date prove that content is fresh?
