Conversational search
Conversational search is an information-seeking process in which later questions and system responses depend on context established in earlier turns.
What it means
A turn may omit entities, refer to a previous answer, change constraints or ask for clarification. The system must resolve that context, retrieve evidence and decide whether to answer, clarify or suggest a next step.
Why it matters
A page that answers an isolated query may still fail when a follow-up depends on exceptions or prior choices. Conversational evaluation therefore measures turn sequences and provenance, not only independent Keyword matches.
Example
After asking about Romanian company registration, a user says `What about a non-resident director?`; the second turn requires the earlier jurisdiction and subject to retrieve the right guidance.
Common mistakes
Do not call every long natural-language query conversational, evaluate turns independently or let outdated dialogue context override a new constraint. Preserve the source supporting each response.
How AYSA handles this
Signals reviewed
turn sequence, resolved entities, changed constraints, clarification, cited source
Problem AYSA can identify
AYSA can flag authorised test conversations where website evidence loses context or an exception across turns.
Recommendation prepared
The proposal strengthens the canonical source or documents a system-side context failure.
Approval preview
The user reviews the dialogue, required context, retrieved evidence and proposed intervention.
Execution
AYSA can update approved website explanations; external assistant dialogue logic requires authorised access.
Verification
AYSA repeats the same turn sequence after the source or connected-system change.
Limits
AYSA cannot control context handling in unconnected external assistants.

Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
Is every natural-language query conversational search?
