Entity Salience
Entity salience is a system-specific estimate of how central an identified entity is to a particular document or text input, often represented as a bounded score.
What it means
For example, Google Cloud Natural Language defines an entity salience value from 0 to 1 for importance or centrality within the submitted text. Other tools may use different models, scales and definitions, so their scores are not interchangeable.
Why it matters
Salience can help prioritize review or summarize a document, but it does not prove factual authority, positive sentiment or search importance. A short disclaimer may be decisive even when its entity receives a low centrality score.
Example
A document-analysis API gives the manufacturer a higher salience score than a briefly mentioned regulator. The result describes that document's model output, not which entity Google Search will rank.
Common mistakes
Do not call salience Keyword density, compare scores from different APIs as one metric or present a document-analysis score as a documented Google Search ranking signal.
How AYSA handles this
Signals reviewed
analysis provider, model version, input document, salience score, decision threshold
Problem AYSA can identify
AYSA can flag supplied reports that omit score provenance, compare incompatible tools or infer search authority from document salience.
Recommendation prepared
The proposal records the provider and input and limits the score to a documented prioritization use.
Approval preview
The user sees the analyzed text, entity, score definition, threshold and decisions the metric may or may not support.
Execution
AYSA can update approved internal analysis rules or website content when a separate source-backed issue is identified.
Verification
AYSA reruns the same provider and input version and confirms that downstream use matches the reviewed interpretation.
Limits
AYSA cannot translate this score into Google ranking probability, factual authority or external AI visibility.

Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
Is entity salience a Google Search ranking signal?
No. The documented Google Cloud value describes entity centrality in analyzed text, not a Search ranking factor.
Can salience scores be compared across tools?
Not safely unless the tools share a compatible definition, model, input and scale.
