Answer freshness
Answer freshness is the degree to which an answer reflects the latest reliable information required by the user's question.
What it means
It depends on the question's time sensitivity, the currency of retrieved sources and whether the answer represents their current claims accurately. A recent retrieval timestamp cannot repair an obsolete or unsupported source.
Why it matters
Answers about deadlines, prices, availability, officeholders or active incidents can become misleading quickly. Stable definitions may remain correct much longer and should not be rewritten merely to appear recent.
Example
An AI answer cites last year's VAT filing deadline after the authority publishes a new schedule. Verification requires the current primary source, not only a newer article date.
Common mistakes
Do not treat the newest source as automatically authoritative, imply that IndexNow guarantees an updated AI answer or change dates without revising claims. Separate observed citations from hypotheses.
How AYSA handles this
Signals reviewed
time-sensitive entities, source publication date, page revision, observed citations, index notification
Problem AYSA can identify
AYSA can flag stale claims on owned pages and discrepancies between current sources and observed AI citations.
Recommendation prepared
The proposal corrects owned content, cites the primary source and distinguishes confirmed observations from hypotheses.
Approval preview
The user reviews the changed fact, authoritative evidence, proposed wording and observed citation context.
Execution
AYSA can update approved owned content and notify supported indexing services where configured.
Verification
AYSA verifies the page and source immediately, then monitors later citation observations without assuming adoption.
Limits
AYSA cannot control third-party AI retrieval, force a citation or guarantee when an answer will change.
