AEO

Answer optimization

Answer optimization is the page-level process of improving one declared answer so readers can identify its conclusion, scope, evidence, conditions and next step without losing necessary qualifications.

What it means

The unit of work is a visible answer on a publisher-controlled page, not an Answer engine or an entire AEO programme. Editing may clarify the opening, move decisive evidence closer to a claim, repair headings, expose exceptions or correct a technical obstacle. Google says no special AI markup is required for Generative search features and providers retain control over selection and display.

Why it matters

A page-level contract produces a reviewable content change instead of disguising a citation or featured-placement promise as optimization.

Example

A shipping answer is revised to state the eligible countries, delivery range and cutoff timezone before its carrier details; the source policy and last-reviewed date remain visible.

Common mistakes

Do not rewrite every page to the same opening formula, remove legal or safety qualifiers, invent answer schema, optimize an unsupported claim, confuse readability with factual accuracy or promise external placement.

How AYSA handles this

Signals reviewed

declared question, visible answer boundary, claim evidence, scope, conditions, exceptions, headings, technical access

Problem AYSA can identify

AYSA can identify buried conclusions, unsupported claims, separated qualifiers, inaccessible structure and answer edits that imitate a generic formula.

Recommendation prepared

The workflow prepares a bounded content and HTML diff tied to the question, evidence and preserved qualifications.

Approval preview

The reviewer sees the original answer, exact change, supporting sources, retained caveats, related technical changes and non-guarantee.

Execution

AYSA can apply an approved page edit on supported sites; it cannot make an external provider select or feature the answer.

Verification

The published answer is compared with the approved diff and checked for visible sources, reading order, links and preserved scope.

Limits

A clearer answer does not prove provider selection, and the change log does not automatically certify AI Act or legal compliance.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Is answer optimization the same as Answer Engine Optimization?

No. Answer optimization is a page-level edit; Answer Engine Optimization is the wider publishing and measurement workflow.

Does an optimized answer require special AI markup?

No. Use supported markup only when it truthfully represents visible page content.
