Answer relevance
Answer relevance is an evidence-backed judgment of how directly a response addresses the declared question, constraints and available context without introducing distracting or conflicting material.
What it means
A relevance rubric can test task match, entity match, constraint coverage, temporal and geographic fit, response focus and contradiction. Correct information can still be irrelevant, while relevant wording can still be wrong; factual accuracy requires a separate check. Provider ranking systems may use their own relevance processes, but an AYSA judgment does not expose their weights or scores.
Why it matters
Separating relevance from accuracy, completeness and rank produces clearer corrective actions and prevents one blended quality score from hiding the actual defect.
Example
An answer recommends accounting software for large US enterprises when the question specifies a five-person Romanian agency; the products may be real, but entity, scale, jurisdiction and task fit fail.
Common mistakes
Do not treat Keyword overlap as relevance, merge accuracy into the score, ignore locale or date, reward extra material, infer provider weights, use Clicks as proof or claim a ranking factor.
How AYSA handles this
Signals reviewed
question, task, entities, constraints, locale, time, response focus, contradictions, review confidence
Problem AYSA can identify
AYSA can identify keyword-only matches, missing constraints, geographic or temporal mismatch, distracting material and blended quality scores.
Recommendation prepared
The workflow proposes focused corrections tied to each failed task, entity or constraint check.
Approval preview
The user sees the relevance rubric, evidence, separate accuracy status, ambiguity, proposed edits and provider-limit statement.
Execution
AYSA can apply approved content corrections; it cannot access or alter an external provider's relevance scoring.
Verification
The revised resource is reassessed against the same declared question and rubric version.
Limits
Analytical relevance is not provider rank, and human approval does not automatically certify AI Act or legal compliance.
