Answer rewriting
Answer rewriting is a controlled transformation of an existing answer to improve its clarity, structure, audience fit or length while preserving declared facts, scope, attribution and required qualifications.
What it means
The workflow begins with a source answer and an explicit transformation contract: what may change, what must remain, which sources support the claims and who reviews the result. A rewritten answer may reorganize or paraphrase language, so it is not an extract. When an AI system produces or materially assists the rewrite, provenance, uncertainty, human review and applicable disclosure or marking duties must be evaluated for the actual deployment context.
Why it matters
A transformation contract makes semantic drift and removed caveats visible before publication instead of treating fluent wording as evidence of fidelity.
Example
A technical incident answer is rewritten for customers: internal acronyms are expanded and chronology is shortened, while cause, affected window, uncertainty and remediation commitments remain locked to the approved source.
Common mistakes
Do not overwrite the source answer, invent facts, hide AI assistance where disclosure applies, remove uncertainty, treat similarity as fidelity, infer provider rewriting or approve solely because the result sounds fluent.
How AYSA handles this
Signals reviewed
source answer, source version, permitted transformations, locked facts, required qualifiers, AI assistance, reviewer, disclosure status
Problem AYSA can identify
AYSA can identify semantic drift, removed caveats, unsupported additions, overwritten sources and missing AI-assistance review fields.
Recommendation prepared
The workflow prepares a versioned rewrite diff with locked claims, source links, reviewer tasks and an Article 50 applicability checkpoint.
Approval preview
The user sees source and rewritten text, claim-level changes, retained uncertainty, AI-assistance record, disclosure decision and limitations.
Execution
AYSA can apply an approved rewrite on supported sites and retain its provenance; it cannot certify every legal obligation or an external provider's process.
Verification
Post-publication checks compare locked facts and disclosure state with the approved transformation record.
Limits
Human review and provenance reduce risk but do not automatically certify AI Act or legal compliance.

Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
Is answer rewriting the same as extraction?
No. Extraction selects source text; rewriting transforms wording or structure under a fidelity contract.
Does human review automatically make an AI-assisted rewrite compliant?
No. Applicable duties depend on the system, output, role and deployment context.
