HTTPS
HTTPS is HTTP carried over Transport Layer Security to authenticate the server and protect data confidentiality and integrity in transit.
What it means
The client and server complete a TLS handshake before exchanging protected HTTP messages. A robust deployment covers documents and subresources, redirects each HTTP URL to its HTTPS equivalent and may use HSTS after the HTTPS estate is confirmed ready.
Why it matters
HTTPS prevents network intermediaries from silently reading or modifying traffic and enables browser secure-context features. Secure delivery supports page experience, but it is not a guarantee of ranking, trustworthy content or application security.
