Technical SEO
Technical SEO
Technical SEO improves the conditions that let search engines crawl, render, understand and index the intended version of a website.
What it means
The work covers response codes, robots controls, canonicals, sitemaps, internal links, rendering, Structured data and performance. Diagnosis must distinguish a real Indexing barrier from a harmless implementation detail before a change is proposed.
Why it matters
Strong content cannot perform reliably when important URLs are inaccessible, duplicated or represented incorrectly. Technical checks also reduce wasted Crawling and protect migrations or template changes.
Example
A crawl may reveal product canonicals pointing to redirected URLs. The fix is to update the template to emit the final 200 URL, then recrawl and confirm the sitemap, internal links and canonical agree.
Common mistakes
Do not treat every crawler warning as a defect, block parameters before checking their purpose or change site-wide templates without a sample, backup and rollback test.
