Meta Keywords
Meta keywords are comma-separated terms placed in a keywords meta tag that Google Search explicitly does not use for indexing or ranking.
What it means
The tag may still exist in legacy templates or private systems, but it is absent from Google's supported search metadata. Removing it does not replace work on visible content, titles, descriptions or Structured data.
Why it matters
Teams waste time maintaining invisible phrase lists and may expose research or competitor names in source code. Auditing the tag helps remove obsolete workflows without deleting supported tags.
Example
A template outputs `meta name="keywords"` with fifty phrases; the cleanup removes that field while preserving the Meta description, robots directives and verification tags.
Common mistakes
Do not confuse meta keywords with meta descriptions, delete all meta tags or claim the tag causes a Google penalty by itself. Check other consumers before removal.
How AYSA handles this
Signals reviewed
rendered head, meta name attributes, template source, supported tags, downstream consumers
Problem AYSA can identify
AYSA can detect legacy meta keywords output and distinguish it from supported description or robots tags.
Recommendation prepared
The proposal removes only the obsolete field after checking whether another authorized system consumes it.
Approval preview
The user sees the exact tag, template location, consumer check and unaffected metadata.
Execution
AYSA can remove approved template or WordPress output on supported installations.
Verification
AYSA recrawls the HTML head and confirms supported metadata, canonicals and robots remain intact.
Limits
AYSA cannot assume every private search system ignores the field without checking its documentation.
