SEO Basics
SEO
SEO is the practice of improving a website so search engines can discover, understand and confidently surface its useful pages.
What it means
SEO combines technical access, page relevance, helpful content, internal architecture and external trust. It is a continuous decision process: identify a visibility constraint, choose an appropriate change, publish it safely and measure whether search discovery and qualified outcomes improve.
Why it matters
Organic visibility can compound, but only when the website answers real demand and remains technically accessible. SEO turns search behavior into product, content and engineering priorities without paying for every visit.
Example
An online shop may fix blocked category pages, rewrite titles around actual product intent and connect buying guides to products. Search Console can then show whether Impressions, Clicks and indexed pages changed.
Common mistakes
SEO is not a promise of first position. Common failures are optimizing isolated keywords, publishing thin pages at scale, ignoring implementation and attributing every traffic change to one edit.
