Link Building
Page authority
Page Authority is Moz's proprietary 1–100 machine-learned score intended to predict the ranking ability of one specific page from Moz data.
What it means
PA is page-level and model-relative. Moz can update its link index, features or model, so values can move without a direct page edit. The score is not a percentage, Google metric, manual-action indicator or guarantee. It should be compared within a relevant set and captured with the URL, date and product context.
Why it matters
Correct scope prevents a page score from being applied to an entire domain or treated as a target that overrides user value and first-party Search Console evidence.
Example
A comparison records PA for five competing guide URLs on the same date, then reviews content and links separately instead of interpreting PA 40 as a 40% ranking chance.
Common mistakes
Do not call it Domain authority, omit Moz, treat it as Google data, convert it to probability, compare stale captures, optimise only for the score, buy links by PA threshold or promise ranking changes.
How AYSA handles this
Signals reviewed
provider, Page Authority, canonical URL, observation date, comparison set, Moz data context, Search Console evidence
Problem AYSA can identify
AYSA can identify page-versus-domain scope errors, missing Moz attribution, stale values and PA interpreted as probability or Google data.
Recommendation prepared
The metric is stored with exact URL, provider and date and used only as one comparative input.
Approval preview
The reviewer sees PA, capture metadata, comparison URLs, first-party search evidence, limitations and proposed decision.
Execution
AYSA can store approved PA observations and prepare supported page improvements; it cannot manipulate Moz's model or guarantee rankings.
Verification
Later PA captures and first-party outcomes remain separate time series so model changes are not misattributed.
Limits
Moz controls the model and index, comparisons are relative, and PA does not guarantee crawl, indexing, traffic or rankings.
