AEO
Short answer
A short answer is the minimum sufficient response for a narrowly scoped question, retaining every fact, condition and qualifier needed to avoid a misleading conclusion.
What it means
Short describes editorial scope, not a fixed word or character threshold. A date, definition or binary policy decision may fit in one or two sentences, while a risky decision may not qualify for this form at all. W3C encourages clear and concise content, but concision does not justify removing evidence or exceptions.
Why it matters
A sufficiency test keeps brief responses useful for scanning and assistive use without rewarding arbitrary length or oversimplification.
Example
“The renewal date is 30 September 2026, at 17:00 EEST,” is sufficient when the source and timezone are linked; a cancellation answer also needs its effective-date condition.
Common mistakes
Do not impose a word limit, shorten high-risk guidance past safety, remove scope, answer multiple questions at once, treat brevity as quality or promise a search feature.
How AYSA handles this
Signals reviewed
question breadth, required conclusion, conditions, exceptions, dates, units, source evidence, risk level
Problem AYSA can identify
AYSA can identify arbitrary word targets, omitted qualifiers, compound questions and short responses unsupported by visible evidence.
Recommendation prepared
The workflow tests minimum sufficiency and proposes a brief response only when the declared task supports it.
Approval preview
The reviewer sees the scope, required elements, removed text, retained caveats, source and reason a short form is appropriate.
Execution
AYSA can publish an approved brief response on supported sites; it cannot make a provider extract or feature it.
Verification
The live response is checked against the required-element list and approved wording.
Limits
Minimum sufficiency is task-specific, and editorial approval does not automatically certify AI Act or legal compliance.
