Traffic Drop
A traffic drop is a negative absolute or percentage change in one named traffic metric between two explicitly comparable observation periods.
What it means
The report must state the source, property, metric, channel or search type, page population, dates, timezone, processing state and comparison rule. Search Console Clicks and GA4 sessions describe different stages, so each needs its own baseline and cannot be combined into one traffic number.
Why it matters
A reproducible comparison separates a true movement from changed filters, incomplete days, seasonality, privacy limits, tracking loss or a shift confined to one query, device, country or page group.
Example
Finalized Google web-search Clicks for the same 42 product URLs decline from 8,400 to 6,930 in matched 28-day weekday windows: an absolute change of minus 1,470 and a relative change of minus 17.5%, before any cause is assigned.
Common mistakes
Do not compare partial with finalized days, mix Clicks with sessions, ignore releases or tracking changes, choose a convenient baseline after seeing the result, or label correlation with a dashboard update as causation.
How AYSA handles this
Signals reviewed
data source, property, metric, filters, page set, baseline, comparison period, processing state
Problem AYSA can identify
AYSA can flag a material decline, an incompatible comparison or a measurement break and localize the affected dimensions.
Recommendation prepared
The diagnostic separates collection, technical availability, search demand and page-level evidence before preparing a bounded action.
Approval preview
The user sees the exact comparison contract, affected rows, competing explanations and any proposed supported website change.
Execution
AYSA can apply an approved supported WordPress correction; it cannot alter platform history or declare an undocumented ranking update.
Verification
Immediate crawl and measurement checks are separated from later observations using the same finalized comparison contract.
Limits
A traffic series can identify when and where movement occurred but cannot by itself establish why it occurred or guarantee recovery.

Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
Does a traffic drop prove that Google changed its algorithm?
No. It establishes a measured change only; causes require separate evidence and may include demand, technical, reporting or competitive factors.
Can Search Console clicks be compared directly with GA4 sessions?
They can be reconciled as separate stages, but they are not interchangeable counts and should not be merged into one numerator.
