AI Visibility

AI Search Presence

AI Search Presence is the observed state that an identifiable entity or resource appears through a defined mention, citation or supporting-link event within a declared AI search test set and time window.

What it means

Presence must name the provider, surface, query set, locale, account state, event type and capture time. A text mention, visible citation and supporting link are different events. Official Google Impressions can supplement the record for eligible properties, but sampled captures and platform reports remain separate evidence sources.

Why it matters

A bounded state prevents one screenshot or aggregate percentage from becoming a permanent claim that the entity ranks across AI Search.

Example

A brand has presence in 7 of 20 eligible AI Mode captures as five resolved mentions and three supporting-link events, with one capture containing both; its AI Overview and other-provider states are reported separately.

Common mistakes

Do not count prompt text, merge mentions and links, blend providers, omit failed captures, report a universal rank, infer positive sentiment, hide test changes or promise persistence.

How AYSA handles this

Signals reviewed

provider, surface, query set, locale, account state, capture status, entity resolution, mention event, citation event, link event

Problem AYSA can identify

AYSA can identify prompt echoes, blended event types, mixed providers, missing eligibility states and presence claims outside the sample.

Recommendation prepared

The workflow creates separate event records and a versioned test-set presence summary.

Approval preview

The reviewer sees every capture, entity resolution, event label, overlap rule, unavailable state and proposed aggregate.

Execution

AYSA can publish approved monitoring summaries; it cannot make presence persistent or control external outputs.

Verification

Later runs append a new time-window state and preserve changes to the system, interface or test definition.

Limits

Presence is sample-bound and mutable, and provenance or human review does not automatically certify AI Act or legal compliance.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Does one AI mention establish AI Search Presence everywhere?

No. It establishes one event only within the named system, surface, test and capture context.

Are a mention and a supporting link the same presence event?

No. They are separate event types and may coexist in one captured response.
