DNS Lookup
A DNS lookup resolves a domain name to records such as the IP addresses used to reach its services.
What it means
Resolvers query a hierarchical, distributed naming system and may reuse cached answers until their time to live expires. Website delivery commonly depends on A, AAAA and CNAME records, while authoritative nameservers, negative caching and local resolvers affect what different clients see.
Why it matters
Incorrect or inconsistent records can make an otherwise healthy origin unreachable, send traffic to old infrastructure or delay a host migration. DNS time is also one component before connection setup, but changing providers without measurement does not automatically improve visible Page speed.
Example
During a hosting move, one nameserver still returns the previous A record while the others return the new address. Regional checks reveal intermittent routing, so the team fixes authoritative consistency before shutting down the old server.
Common mistakes
Do not treat one local lookup as global truth, lower TTL only after a migration starts or delete old infrastructure before cached answers expire. Avoid confusing reverse DNS with the forward records browsers use to reach the site.
How AYSA handles this
Signals reviewed
Authoritative answers, A and AAAA records, CNAME chain, TTL, regional resolver results
Problem AYSA can identify
AYSA can identify inconsistent records, stale destinations, excessive alias chains and failed resolution across representative resolvers.
Recommendation prepared
The proposal lists exact record changes, sequencing, TTL preparation and rollback destinations for owner approval.
Approval preview
The user reviews current and proposed records, affected services, propagation expectations and the rollback path.
Execution
AYSA can apply approved changes only where a supported DNS connector and account permission exist; otherwise it provides provider-ready instructions.
Verification
AYSA queries authoritative and public resolvers and confirms that the intended hosts, HTTPS service and crawl endpoints remain reachable.
Limits
Cached answers expire on resolver schedules, so AYSA cannot force immediate worldwide propagation.

Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
Why can two DNS lookups temporarily show different addresses?
Resolvers may hold cached records with different remaining TTLs, or authoritative nameservers may be returning inconsistent data.
