Generative discovery
Generative discovery is an observed path in which a person encounters a source, entity or publisher resource through a declared generative search experience.
What it means
Evidence may include a visible source link, a provider report or a tagged referral, but each proves a different stage. A citation display shows exposure, while a visit shows a source transition; neither alone reveals provider selection logic or establishes a standard funnel across products.
Why it matters
Separating exposure from source visits keeps discovery measurement useful without converting incomplete analytics into causal ranking claims.
Example
A Bing citation observation and its later tagged referral are stored as two linked events, with product, query class, locale and date retained.
Common mistakes
Do not call every generated mention a visit, merge providers, infer private selection factors, treat source order as authority or promise repeatable discovery.
How AYSA handles this
Signals reviewed
visible source event, provider report, tagged referral, product, locale, observation date
Problem AYSA can identify
AYSA can flag datasets that merge exposure with visits, mix products or overstate incomplete attribution.
Recommendation prepared
The measurement plan defines separate event types and preserves unknown stages instead of filling them by assumption.
Approval preview
The reviewer sees event definitions, evidence fields, attribution boundary and prohibited causal conclusions.
Execution
AYSA can aggregate supported public observations and authorized analytics; it cannot observe hidden provider selection or untracked users.
Verification
Event totals reconcile to source records and remain segmented by product and observation window.
Limits
The evidence is operational and sample-bound; it does not automatically certify AI Act or legal compliance, and applicable Article 50 duties require a separate role-and-use assessment from 2 August 2026.
