Product schema
Product schema uses the Product type to identify a specific item and connect its brand, identifiers, offers, ratings and reviews.
What it means
Google distinguishes Merchant listing pages where shoppers can purchase from product snippet pages such as editorial reviews or aggregators. Required and recommended properties differ, while the visible page and any product feed must remain consistent with the same item.
Why it matters
Correct product identity helps systems connect price, availability and review information to the intended item. Stale inventory, variant confusion or markup for products absent from the page can make the graph misleading and ineligible.
Example
A purchasable shoe page describes one Product with stable SKU and brand, then connects size-specific offers or variants whose visible price and availability match current inventory. The canonical identifies the reviewed product page.
Common mistakes
Do not mark a category list as one Product, merge variants with contradictory identifiers or publish invisible ratings. Avoid sending a price in JSON-LD that differs from the rendered page or merchant feed.
