AI Mention Graph

An AI Mention Graph is a versioned evidence graph connecting captured AI outputs, mention occurrences, resolved entities, citation elements and displayed source records.

What it means

Nodes and edges must identify their observation or review basis: a capture contains a mention, a citation element points to a source, and a reviewer resolves an occurrence to an entity. W3C PROV supports entities, activities, responsibility, derivation and versioning. The graph represents AYSA's evidence only, not a provider's hidden model, training corpus or retrieval network.

Why it matters

Typed evidence edges prevent visual proximity and shared outputs from becoming unsupported causal relationships or universal influence scores.

Example

One capture node contains two mention nodes and three citation edges resolving to two source pages; the graph retains the query, system, capture time and reviewer resolution rather than drawing source-to-mention causation.

Common mistakes

Do not claim graph completeness, invent private retrieval edges, merge captures, omit edge provenance, assign authority from degree alone, collapse source pages to domains, hide model changes or promise visibility.

How AYSA handles this

Signals reviewed

graph version, capture IDs, systems, test definitions, mention nodes, citation edges, source records, resolution activities, uncertainty

Problem AYSA can identify

AYSA can identify untyped edges, missing provenance, cross-capture merges and analytical links mislabeled as provider-internal facts.

Recommendation prepared

The graph keeps observed, resolved and inferred edge types separate and retains every activity and version.

Approval preview

The reviewer sees node evidence, AI-assisted extraction and resolution provenance, uncertainty, proposed edges and graph boundaries.

Execution

AYSA can publish an approved evidence graph and monitoring deltas; it cannot access or reconstruct a provider's private graph.

Verification

New captures create a new graph version with explicit additions, removals and methodology changes.

Limits

Coverage is sample-bound and mutable, and provenance or human review does not automatically certify AI Act or legal compliance.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Does an AI Mention Graph show a provider's retrieval graph?

No. It records observed interface evidence and reviewed analytical relationships.

Does a source and mention in one output prove causation?

No. Co-occurrence in a capture is not evidence that the source generated the mention.
