AI Visibility

AI mention

An AI mention is one expression in a captured AI-generated output that is resolved to an identifiable entity, product, person or resource.

What it means

The record needs the system, surface, query or prompt, locale, account and personalization state when known, capture time, response span and resolution evidence. A mention can be linked, cited or plain text. Schema.org's broader mention concept also describes a reference without making the containing work primarily about that concept.

Why it matters

Occurrence-level evidence prevents a text match from becoming an unsupported claim about sentiment, endorsement, training data, ranking or persistent visibility.

Example

A response names “Atlas” in a database comparison; the stored prompt, sentence and product context resolve it to a software platform, while citation status and sentiment remain separate fields.

Common mistakes

Do not merge namesakes, count navigation or prompt text as output, infer endorsement, claim model training inclusion, treat a citation as required, hide account state, compare unlike systems or promise repeatability.

How AYSA handles this

Signals reviewed

system, surface, query or prompt, locale, account state, capture time, response span, entity candidates, citation state

Problem AYSA can identify

AYSA can identify ambiguous matches, missing capture context and mentions reported as endorsement, training evidence or persistent visibility.

Recommendation prepared

The workflow stores the occurrence, resolves the entity with evidence and separates link, citation, sentiment and recurrence fields.

Approval preview

The reviewer sees the captured output, candidate entities, AI-assisted resolution provenance, uncertainty and proposed record.

Execution

AYSA can approve occurrence records and update supported monitoring views; it cannot control or inspect a provider's private model.

Verification

Repeat captures are new observations linked to the same test definition rather than overwriting the original output.

Limits

Outputs and interfaces change, and provenance or human review does not automatically certify AI Act or legal compliance.
