Analytics
AI Search Behavior
AI Search Behavior is an observed sequence of consented user interaction events that occurs within an AI search interface or after a user follows its visible result or source link.
What it means
Behavior can include submitting a query, selecting Search, opening a Source panel, following a displayed link, refining the request or completing a measured action on the destination site. Google Analytics events measure interactions such as page loads, Clicks and purchases, but measurement coverage, consent, Attribution and event definitions limit interpretation. Result text alone is not user behavior.
Why it matters
Event-level evidence prevents analysts from turning a generated answer, assumed intent or aggregate traffic change into a fictional user journey.
Example
A consented session records a Search submission, one follow-up, a source-link click, a landing-page view and a completed demo request; no claim is made about users whose interface events were unavailable.
Common mistakes
Do not infer behavior from response text, identify people unnecessarily, ignore consent, merge users or sessions, count duplicate events, treat missing tracking as no action, infer motive or claim causal Attribution.
How AYSA handles this
Signals reviewed
consent state, event name, event parameters, timestamp, surface, session rule, referrer evidence, destination action, missing state
Problem AYSA can identify
AYSA can identify inferred journeys, duplicate events, missing consent context, broken session boundaries and unobserved actions counted as absence.
Recommendation prepared
The workflow defines a minimal event dictionary, consent basis, session scope and known measurement gaps.
Approval preview
The reviewer sees collected events, parameters, deduplication, identity minimization, attribution limits and unavailable interface steps.
Execution
AYSA can analyze supported consented analytics and capture data; it cannot reconstruct actions that were never observed.
Verification
Debug and live checks confirm implemented events separately from conclusions drawn from later reports.
Limits
Observed events do not prove motive or causation, and analytics review does not automatically certify AI Act or legal compliance.

Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
Is an AI-generated response evidence of user behavior?
No. Behavior requires observed interaction events; response content is an output record.
Does missing telemetry mean the user took no action?
No. It means the action was not observed within the declared measurement boundary.
