AI Search Intent
AI Search Intent is an analyst-assigned hypothesis about the task a person is trying to complete through a declared AI search query or prompt and its available context.
What it means
The label uses the literal input, modifiers, conversational history and legitimate task evidence, and it may allow multiple or uncertain interpretations. Google explains that result relevance can depend on query, location, language and device, but providers do not expose a definitive intent label for every request. Intent therefore differs from both the input string and observed user actions.
Why it matters
Treating intent as a versioned hypothesis prevents a convenient Keyword category from becoming an unsupported claim about the user or provider.
Example
The prompt “best accounting software for a five-person Romanian agency” is labeled comparative purchase research with medium confidence; follow-up requests for VAT exports refine the hypothesis, while a later vendor click is stored as behavior.
Common mistakes
Do not call intent certain, infer identity or sensitive traits, equate one Keyword with one task, ignore conversation context, use Clicks as retroactive proof, claim provider agreement or hide reviewer uncertainty.
How AYSA handles this
Signals reviewed
literal input, modifiers, conversation context, task evidence, candidate labels, alternatives, confidence, review status
Problem AYSA can identify
AYSA can identify deterministic intent claims, missing alternatives, sensitive inferences and labels unsupported by the submitted language.
Recommendation prepared
The workflow proposes a bounded intent label with evidence, confidence and alternative interpretations for approval.
Approval preview
The reviewer sees the literal input, context used, proposed label, alternatives, uncertainty and excluded sensitive inferences.
Execution
AYSA can save an approved analytical label for content and test planning; it cannot read a user's mind or a provider's private classification.
Verification
Label versions retain their evidence and reviewer decision and are not silently rewritten by later behavior.
Limits
Intent remains a hypothesis, and AI assistance plus human approval does not automatically certify AI Act or legal compliance.

Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
Can AI Search Intent be known with certainty from one prompt?
Usually not. A prompt can support several tasks, so the label needs context, alternatives and confidence.
Is AI Search Intent the same as user behavior?
No. Intent is an analytical hypothesis; behavior requires observed interaction events.
