AI Visibility
AI Search Interface
An AI Search Interface is the set of perceivable and operable controls, states and presentation components through which a user submits, refines and examines an AI search response.
What it means
The interface may include a composer, search selector, follow-up control, response region, inline citations and a Source panel. Components and labels can vary by device, account, locale and release. W3C accessibility principles require interface information and controls to be perceivable, operable, understandable and robust; those qualities are evaluated independently from answer accuracy.
Why it matters
Interface-level evidence explains what a user could see and do during a capture without attributing those controls to the provider's hidden retrieval or ranking process.
Example
A mobile capture records the Search selector, submitted prompt, loading state, answer region, two inline citations and an expanded Sources panel; the answer text and URLs become a separate result record.
Common mistakes
Do not call interface components ranking factors, infer backend steps from animations, ignore keyboard or screen-reader access, merge mobile and desktop layouts, treat a loading state as a result or assume labels remain fixed.
How AYSA handles this
Signals reviewed
device, viewport, account state, locale, control labels, loading state, response region, citation controls, accessibility state
Problem AYSA can identify
AYSA can identify mixed interface versions, missing response boundaries, inaccessible capture assumptions and animations presented as backend proof.
Recommendation prepared
The workflow records an interface map and accessibility context before extracting a result or source event.
Approval preview
The reviewer sees screenshots, component labels, state transitions, viewport details, extraction boundaries and accessibility limitations.
Execution
AYSA can capture supported visible interfaces and inspect rendered components; it cannot inspect private application logic.
Verification
Repeat captures compare declared controls and states while preserving earlier screenshots and extraction metadata.
Limits
Interface review does not establish answer quality, and screenshots or human approval do not automatically certify AI Act or legal compliance.

Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
Is an AI Search Interface the same as an AI Search Surface?
No. The surface is the product context; the interface is the set of controls and presentation components inside it.
Does a source animation prove how retrieval worked?
No. An interface state is observable evidence, but it does not expose private backend processing.
