Fetch And Render

Fetch And Render is a diagnostic process that retrieves a URL, loads permitted resources, executes supported scripts and inspects the resulting document.

What it means

Modern Google testing is available through URL Inspection and Rich results Test rather than the retired Search Console feature once named Fetch as Google. Useful evidence includes response status, loaded and blocked resources, console errors, rendered HTML and a screenshot.

Why it matters

The process reveals content or directives that differ after execution, but one successful test does not prove Google indexed the page or will reproduce every personalized state. Results must be connected to Crawling, Indexing and template-wide evidence.

Example

A product test returns 200, then shows a failed API request and no price or internal links in rendered HTML. The team fixes the public data request and retests both markup and screenshot rather than requesting Indexing immediately.

Common mistakes

Do not treat a screenshot as the rendered document, call a test pass an Indexing guarantee or repeatedly submit unchanged broken URLs. Avoid testing authenticated content as evidence for an anonymous crawler.

How AYSA handles this

Signals reviewed

Response status, loaded resources, console errors, rendered HTML, visual output

Problem AYSA can identify

AYSA can compare fetched and rendered states and locate the failed request or script associated with missing output.

Recommendation prepared

The proposal ties each observed difference to a concrete fix and identifies how broadly the affected template should be tested.

Approval preview

The user reviews response evidence, DOM diff, screenshot and proposed code or access change before approval.

Execution

AYSA can apply supported WordPress changes; Search Console submissions and external application code require appropriate access.

Verification

AYSA reruns anonymous renders and confirms content, links, metadata, status and resource behavior on representative URLs.

Limits

AYSA cannot use a single render to prove index status, rankings or behavior for every crawler and personalized session.
