SEO Basics
SERP
SERP stands for search engine results page, the page a search engine displays after a user submits a query.
What it means
A SERP can contain organic results, ads, maps, images, videos, People Also Ask, featured snippets, shopping results, AI summaries and other features. SEO work should consider the actual SERP layout, not just rank position.
Why it matters
It matters because different SERP Features change click behavior and opportunity size.
Example
A query with a large Local pack may need Google Business Profile Optimization as much as traditional organic page work.
Common mistakes
Common mistakes include tracking only position while ignoring SERP Features, intent and click-through behavior.
