Website Entity
Website entity is a context-dependent label for a website represented as an identifiable digital resource with its own URL, name, publisher and relationships to pages or organizations.
What it means
Schema.org defines WebSite as a set of related web pages usually served from one domain. That digital resource is not automatically identical to the organization, brand or person that publishes it.
Why it matters
Separating site and publisher prevents a homepage URL from being used as the organization's only identifier and allows multisite, subdomain or platform relationships to be represented accurately.
Example
AYSA's website record uses the canonical site URL and site name, while a separate Organization record describes the company and links to the site as an official resource.
Common mistakes
Do not merge WebSite and Organization nodes without purpose, create a separate site identity for every directory or claim that WebSite markup forces Google's site-name choice.

Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
Is a website the same entity as its publisher?
Not necessarily. A WebSite is a digital resource, while the publisher may be an Organization or Person.
Does WebSite structured data guarantee a selected site name?
No. It can indicate a preference, but Google's site-name generation remains automated.
