Entity Answer
An entity answer is a non-standard label for a response whose subject is a clearly identified entity and whose material attributes or relationships are supported by traceable sources.
What it means
The answer may be a sentence, comparison, table or profile section. Its defining qualities are identity, task fit and evidence, not a special schema type or a formula that forces extraction by search or AI systems.
Why it matters
A concise answer about the wrong namesake is still wrong. Stating the entity, scope, effective date and source makes the response more useful to readers and easier to correct when facts change.
Example
A shipping answer identifies the exact retailer and country, states the current delivery window and cutoff date, and links the retailer's policy rather than generalizing from an unrelated marketplace.
Common mistakes
Do not omit the entity scope, turn uncertain inference into fact, cite a circular summary or claim that answer formatting guarantees a Featured snippet or AI citation.

Quick answers
Frequently asked questions
Is Entity Answer a schema.org type?
No. It is a descriptive answer pattern; use only schema types that accurately match the visible content.
Does an entity-focused answer guarantee an AI citation?
No. Clear identity and sourcing improve the answer itself but do not control selection by an external system.
