GEO
GEO
GEO, or Generative Engine Optimization, improves how clearly a source can be understood and evaluated by systems that synthesize answers.
What it means
GEO applies established information-quality practices to Generative discovery: explicit entities, verifiable claims, original evidence, coherent topical coverage and accessible pages. Platform behavior changes quickly, so confirmed documentation, measured observations and hypotheses must remain separate.
Why it matters
Generative interfaces can influence awareness before a user visits a website. Clear, attributable information gives a source a better chance of being evaluated, while authority and retrieval remain outside the publisher’s control.
Example
A research page can define its methodology, date every dataset, name the organization behind it and link each claim to primary evidence. AYSA can monitor later mentions without claiming that the page will be cited.
Common mistakes
Avoid manufacturing citations, repeating unsupported statistics or presenting correlation as a ranking mechanism. GEO does not replace Crawlability, helpful content, brand authority or traditional SEO.
