Local SEO

Local review

A Local review is a user-authored evaluation of a genuine experience with a business, published on a local discovery, map or review surface.

What it means

On Google, reviews can appear beside a Business Profile in Search and Maps, and businesses may reply after verification. Google prohibits incentives for posting, changing or removing reviews; replies are public, and review availability can vary by country, region or category. Website markup cannot manufacture Google reviews, and self-controlled LocalBusiness pages are ineligible for Google’s star review feature.

Why it matters

Authentic review evidence helps prospective customers evaluate a business while disciplined handling avoids coercion, fabricated ratings and public replies that disclose private information.

Example

After a completed repair, a customer independently describes the service on Google; the verified business posts a short factual reply, records the operational issue internally and does not offer a discount for changing the rating.

Common mistakes

Do not buy or gate reviews, reward only positive feedback, generate a customer’s testimony, copy ratings into unsupported schema, reveal personal details in replies or claim that review volume alone determines ranking.

How AYSA handles this

Signals reviewed

review surface, review date, experience claim, incentive evidence, policy issue, reply status, personal-data risk

Problem AYSA can identify

AYSA can flag repetitive generated replies, incentive language, unsupported rating markup, privacy exposure and review claims routed to the wrong owner.

Recommendation prepared

The workflow separates a public factual reply, private service recovery and policy reporting while preserving the original review.

Approval preview

The reviewer sees the public text, proposed reply, personal-data redactions, operational owner, policy basis and AI-generated draft label.

Execution

AYSA can prepare and, where connected and approved, post a reply; it cannot author customer reviews, remove criticism or guarantee platform action.

Verification

The public response is checked for policy, accuracy, privacy and successful publication, with internal follow-up recorded separately.

Limits

The evidence is location-, query-, surface- and time-bound; recommendations, generated replies, captures and monitoring do not automatically certify AI Act or legal compliance, and applicable Article 50 duties require a separate role-and-use assessment from 2 August 2026.
