Share of Voice
SEO share of voice is the percentage of a declared, weighted search-visibility opportunity captured by one site or brand across a fixed query and competitor set.
What it means
A reproducible model defines the query universe, engine, location, device, date, result types, competitors, visibility curve and weights. One common form divides the site's sum of query weight multiplied by visibility score by the total weighted opportunity; Search Console does not expose a field named SEO share of voice.
Why it matters
The metric can summarize broad competitive coverage, but only when its denominator is stable and the model remains separate from Impressions, Clicks, Average position and market share.
Example
Across 200 fixed queries weighted by approximate demand, a domain earns 1,840 weighted visibility points from 10,000 available points, producing an 18.4% modelled share of voice for that exact panel.
Common mistakes
Do not change the query set silently, call advertising impression share SEO share of voice, compare tools with different curves, use one average rank as the formula or claim revenue market share.
How AYSA handles this
Signals reviewed
query panel, demand weight, rank observation, result type, competitor, visibility curve, model version
Problem AYSA can identify
AYSA can flag denominator drift, missing observations, duplicate queries or comparisons produced by incompatible visibility models.
Recommendation prepared
The report freezes one reproducible panel and shows both the summary percentage and the query-level contributions.
Approval preview
The user sees the complete denominator, formula version, missing-data treatment and proposed monitoring changes.
Execution
AYSA can maintain an approved measurement panel and apply separately approved supported WordPress actions; it cannot change competitor visibility.
Verification
The metric is recomputed from stored observations and checked so competitor shares use one denominator and model version.
Limits
The result represents the selected panel and weighting scheme, not all searches, revenue share, causal impact or guaranteed traffic.

Quick answers
Frequently asked questions

Is share of voice the same as average position or market share?
No. Position is one possible input, while market share describes business outcomes under a different denominator.
